My name is SnowDunk, and I have been a Sonic fan for about 4 years now. I have never actually signed up for a forum before, and I am very excited to talk to other Sonic fanatics like me.
The major activity I like to do with Sonic the Hedgehog is obviously play the video games, but I love being involved with the community. I am very involved in the fan-ficiton community, and have written a few stories for the Sonic fandom already on my fan-fiction account.
Aside from writing, I have made a few art pieces either for 30-Minute-Sonic art challenges on Tumblr, or cover art for my stories.
My personal Tumblr can be found here. It is mainly Sonic the Hedgehog with some TMNT mixed in at points.
Once again, I am super excited to be further involved with the awesome Sonic community! I look forward to meeting all of you and just talking about our favorite hedgehog.

From what I've seen so far, everybody who's joined this forum recently has heard about it from Tumblr (myself included). I wonder if that was the first (or primary) word-of-mouth advertising campaign for this board.
But I digress. Welcome, Snowdunk! I'm glad you chose to join a forum for the first time -- I hope the experience doesn't disappoint.
I too am involved in writing Sonic fan fiction, and perhaps I can post some to this forum later if time permits. If I may ask, what motivated you to write about Sonic and his friends?

Thanks for asking, STP! I had this completely wild idea for a story one day, about Shadow and Tails being forced to take care of the Devil's son, and it just evolved from there. One of my friends shares a huge love for Sonic too, and we just come up with stupid story ideas that can become fan-fictions I will write. That's why most of my works are comedies.
What about you? What drives you to write?

I get inspiration from the strangest of places. My stories are primarily action/adventure (which is what I've always considered to be the core of the games), with some drama added in as well. I try to write for a teenage audience, though some of my stories definitely have dark and mature themes to cater to older Sonic fans like myself. Part of the way I establish a signature style is by giving all my stories three-word titles. Three words is just long enough to be descriptive, but short enough to force me to condense the entire story premise.
How about length? Do you ever measure how long one of your typical stories is?

Excellent to see you here! Hope to see some of your fanfica sometime up on here. Uh, was that directed towards Snowdunk, or towards me? We both talked about our fan fiction.

Length is a writing concept I am still trying to master. I try to keep any chapter I write between 1,000 and 3,000 words. If I really like a story, I try to give it more chapters than originally planned. For any short stories that have a set theme, I use the five act structure.
I have all types of stories. Some are short one-offs, I have an ongoing, never truly ending series, another one is newspaper based, and then some five act stories.
How about yourself? What is your longest work?

How about yourself? What is your longest work? I've always had my suspicions, but I've never actually measured it until now. At 21,498 words total, "Novus Umbra Secloum" is my longest story yet. Coming up in second place is "Steel Your Heart" with 19,702 words total, followed by "Walking A Mile" at 19,453 words.
