If game mechanics could win awards, I'd vote Knuckles the Flying Glitchidna as number one best game mechanic. It's like the developers of this game knew we'd need away to bypass their every game obstacle, boss fight and puzzle rooms. Truly this move has saved time for gamers everywhere.
Anyway, I'll honestly say I've yet to play this game but I plan on getting it if it's available for PC. I stick to watching walkthrough so for now (game grumps specifically hurr hurrrrrr).
Anyone play it yet? Thoughts, reviews, criticisms, emurrallldss?

I own both the Wii U and 3DS versions. I have to say, I was disappointed with what I got, but it was only because I was just too excited for it. I pre-ordered both of them, so I had no exposure to the games prior. Everything was unexpected to me when I played. Nonetheless, I enjoy playing both. It isn't as Sonic-y as I would like, but they are decently fun games.
I actually wrote a review for the Wii U version in my school newspaper. I ended with this: "While Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric was not the game it was anticipated to be, it does have some pluses, but they are not good enough to overlook the awful level designs and slow gameplay."
Re-typing that now kind of sounds really harsh, but by no means is it just garbage.

I haven't played either version of the game, and it's primarily because I don't own any video game consoles on which it has been released. Actually, I don't own any consoles at all (not counting my casual-gaming PC) and I never have. I've never played any game newer than Sonic Adventure, and so all my knowledge of subsequent games was acquired secondhand.
From what I've heard of the two Sonic Boom titles, though, I'm not missing out on much. I certainly am not going to buy a console or a handheld just for these games -- I haven't seen many "killer app" games on the market in recent years.

I might get the 3DS version soon but the Wii U version I have absolutely NO interest in. I'd hate a glitchfest like that- I mean, they should have made the entire game like the demo. I would have atleast given it a chance at that point. There were 2 parts of "Glitchfest" by Scykoh for Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric.
